ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS! // Versatile Horsemanship

in today’s video we’re gonna be
answering some really common questions regarding Manzer in nika and we’re
also going to be telling you about new merchandise and a black friday sale that
we have going on if you’re new here my name is brandi I’m Jason in this
channels all about horses and our journey with horsemanship so if you
want to learn more about horses or follow our journey you can start by
hitting that subscribe button and be sure to turn on all notifications so you
never miss a video as we’re wrapping up Thanksgiving let’s see it’s it’s
midnight here right now our day started out with snow blowing well he’s snow
blowed for help snow blowing and plowing getting stuck with the black truck and
feeding horses it was a challenge within itself too so we got over two feet of
snow and it’s heavy wet snow so very hard to get around and that’s just kind
of how the day went it made Jason sit down with me to go
over this video with you he’s exhausted and yeah but so I’m thankful to have him
be able to sit and do this with me so one of the things that Jason I were just
talking about that we’re thankful for is our youtube channel so what were you
thankful for I find it interesting that you know we kind of started this well
you really started this and I’ve gotten to be part of it but you started it with
just the idea that let’s just let’s have our friends and family be able to see
what we do on a daily basis and the interesting thing to me is that we’ve
been able to connect with people all over the world and and I think that
that’s pretty awesome it’s something extremely thankful I’m thankful for is
that we get to connect with all these different people and different walks of
life that we never would have had had we not been part of this so I think it’s
great I totally agree with that and the big thing for me is the sheer kindness
that I get on my channel in the comments I was really really hesitant to do this
I’m not gonna lie it took me a long time to really get serious about it because I
was really concerned about the negative
comments that I would get and throughout this entire journey I really can’t
believe how many positive comments I get and how much love and support from
people and I really genuinely appreciate that so another thing that we’re really
grateful for this year is our journey with Mainzer I think it’s been a pretty
pretty amazing pretty I’ve lost a lot of sleep a lot of sleep it’s been an
amazing journey it’s been super stressful
we’ve lost probably years off our lives I have so much gray hair you know but he
is so awesome and he’s just the sweetest little thing and we just adore him and I
he’s way more than I ever expected to to end up with so I’m very pleased about
that so what I want to know is leave me a comment down below and let me know
what you’re thankful for I know that Thanksgiving isn’t something
that is celebrated all over the world so of course but we all have things that we
can be thankful for and show gratitude for something that I get asked about on
almost a daily basis is when am I going to have versatile horsemanship merch
available to purchase and locally I have things set up now but I wanted to be
able to facilitate everybody so I now have shirts this is one of my favorites
it’s a long-sleeve premium t-shirt and it’s super soft I really really like it
and I have the one in gray you haven’t wanted great yeah yeah and they’re just
they’re awesome so definitely an absolute favorite to mine we also have
mugs now so it’s got the logo on the side and the thing I’m doing with the
mugs is we’re putting pictures of the horses on the back and not just regular
pictures but drying so I have a student named Amelia
and Amelia has been with me Amelia’s been in my program for gosh she was six
when she started riding with me and now she is 19 and she drew these and she’s
absolutely amazing so here is bear look at that oh my gosh you can really see
this it really emphasized this is his hair and we have Petra and we have an
actual picture of this drawing and it’s stunning it’s an absolute gorgeous
picture of and of course this one I think Mansur was about eight weeks old
roughly so you can find all of these I have hoodies I have t-shirts
I have tank tops I have iPhone cases tote bags what else is on there stickers
there’s pillows beach towels there’s so many things that are on there and
definitely something that I really anybody would enjoy so I ordered myself
a bunch of samples of everything so I can’t wait to start wearing it that’s a
fact yeah okay so here’s the exciting news as I’m running a 20% off sale and
the promo code you would enter this at checkout but the promo code is thank you
20 and this sale goes from 29 to the 628 to the sixth 29th of November of
December so yes so make sure if there’s something that you would like to have
make sure to go on there now you’ll get 20% off your favorite oh good about
Christmas then too yes you should be able to still get it
by Christmas for sure if you order it this week moving on now to the most
common questions about Mainzer now we have not pre rehearsed these at all
so I’m actually I don’t know what I mean again your answers
so just be warned okay and so Jason says well where are the questions I said
they’re in my head so the question question number one is
is man’s are going to be mine or Jason’s so not yours
so mine all right let’s let’s talk about this for a second as you may or may not
know Mainzer is the offspring of Nika I legally owned Nika bought her before
Brandi and I were married that’s a fact I have paperwork to prove it in fact
Nika is registered in my name yes Mainzer by default legally is now
registered in – well she’s not registered yet well he will be by
default you can’t register him because it’s my horse yes so legally that horse
is mine so regardless of however you want to spin it Mainzer will be Jason’s
okay and he will lease him to his wife for a nominal fee of happiness and just
kindness but he will also take him away if his wife is so legally he’s mine I
hope that answers the question in Liz and and all by the way technically I was
the first one to ever touch him so he’s mine and we have if you haven’t seen the
birth video it’s on it’s on his playlist so if you
if you look for the playlist equine reproduction if you haven’t seen
Mansour’s journey you can see the entire story there that delivery took like five
years off my life I moving on to the next question will we ever breed Nika
again because it’s stressful Wow whales yeah it’s expensive it is very
expensive to have a fall I will do a video on all the expensive expenses that
has have come about like every situation is different in our situation
breeding one of our horses is gonna be very different than like a big ranch out
in North Dakota breeding horses it’s just completely completely different so
the reason I made all these videos is I really want to share that journey and I
hear so many people say oh I think I’ll breed my horse and they just don’t
really understand they think it’s just a stud fee and then that’s it there’s just
so much more that goes along with that so I just want people to be aware of all
those things I don’t deal with pregnancy well human or otherwise the unknowns for
me here is hard I’m always under the thing is like yeah you can breed again
and you might get the exact same perfect little horse that you’re looking for you
might not you know it’s a big risk right if Nika was you know seven years old
mm-hmm eight years old I probably wouldn’t be as stressed but she’s not
you know she’s a lot older than that and you know every year she gets older the
more hard it is on her and I don’t know I just sometimes I think you just need
to be happy with what you got mm-hmm that’s not to say that I couldn’t be
convinced but like it’s if you were just asking me like rate up I’d be opinion
right now probably not necessarily – super interesting so I think our answer
for that is we’ll make I think if we were gonna do it again it would have to
be this spring and that would be our only option to ever do it again
I’m pretty content with things the way they are but I don’t know maybe come
spring will change your mind and we want to try it again
we’ll find out that okay so another question that is
extremely common on my videos is when am I going to wean Mainzer so as of right
now he is six and a half months old and he’s still with his mom
and they’re in the pasture with a whole herd together and here’s my thoughts on
it most people wean their horses from four to six months old and I just don’t
see a reason to wean at this moment Nika is super happy being with Mainzer and
he’s super happy being with his mom it’s actually more inconvenient for me to
wean him right now because of having to separate them and you know having a few
feet of snow and all that stuff kind of makes things a little bit more
complicated but I kind of like like right now it’s nice because I can
separate them and put them in their own stalls for grain and I can you know
Mainzer takes a little while to eat as grain so I usually walk away and go do
other things but I’ve left them for like five hours before and they’re just
hanging out in their own stalls happy as can be
they don’t care that they’re not right together and it has been zero stress for
either of them the whole time so far and I really like that what I don’t like is
when mayors and babies are pulled apart and they’re still in the same property
and they’re screaming their heads off and I just think that that can be
prevented and I think that creates a little bit of anxiety and horses so what
I’m doing is just waiting I’m just gonna wait and tell Nika tells me that hey I
need to be separated from him or Mainzer tells me you know it’s time for me to
move on and we’ll kind of go from there so I’m planning on them just being
together until spring and then we make some decisions for things at that point
could change but we’ll see what happens I think he’s thinking is I’ve never
nursed a baby before so what she’s okay the final question is are we gonna gild
Mainzer I don’t know him and bear are actually
like very similar personalities and they play and play and play stay tuned
because I’ve got videos coming up those boys playing and it is hilarious I guess
for me it’ll be interesting to see what he looks like
personality-wise Mainzer six months from now yeah he could be one
of those animals where you know he would be a sought-after stud mm-hm based on
his personality is confirmation like it’s body size is color I’m not exactly
sure I’m interested or willing to deal with a stud at our place so my plan is
to wait till spring see what happens see if he starts acting study towards any of
them he’s out with all mares there’s two ponies that are geldings and him in the
rest are all mares out of my whole herd so I’m gonna see how he does with them
and just kind of go from there because we all have a whole field full mayor or
pregnant mares so but if I feel the need to separate him I absolutely I’m going
to the moment that I see it being an issue but we’ll make a decision in the
spring he’ll either be moved to a different area and kept as stud for a
little while or he will be gelded and kept with herd I hope that those answers
are what you’re looking for and if you have any other questions please don’t
hesitate to leave a comment below and we’ll do our best to get back to you on
those so just remember that the answer is legally mine see you later

I’m thankful that God has given me so many gifts and a job that I was made meant for and am passionate about. The only thing I need now is to get my horsey fix on a daily basis. So, right now, I’m living vicariously through you. THANK YOU

I think you’re on the right track about gelding Manzer. Disposition is a big point in whether to gels or not to held.
Positivities of gelding: he can stay with the herd and not be separated, no chance of having unplanned pregnancies, if he gets stuffy, best to geld. He will be happier in a herd environment.
Negatives:you lose the chance of passing on his genetics, sometimes geldings will get lazy, stallions are more alert about dangerous situations, it can change his personality, although that is rare, it did happen to me with a Mustang colt that had a super sweet personality, I could put little kids on him and he would move his body under the child to keep him from falling off. After he was gelded, he would buck, turn out from under you and try his best to get you off. He also tried to kill the vet when he came out.

I also wanted to comment on the artist. She’s very talented! I enjoy your videos and I’m thanking about starting one, but I have no idea how. My computer is so slow that I can’t watch live chats, so I don’t know if I can upload a video with my computer and the only camera I have is my IPhone.

I'm thankfulfor the family I have around me right. I was alone for a while, but now I have a group of people who love me and I love them. Though guess the bonus is I get to watch this channel. You don't try to polish it and make horse life look perfect. Life is just life. Thank you.

I agree about gelding manzer. I also have a stud colt. I'm not going to geld him unless he makes me. I have no issues keeping him separated from the mares. Plus his color is amazing. If he turns into the horse I'm hoping he will, I'll definitely want a foal or 2 from him. I hope manzer continues to grow and become the horse you want him to be. When do you plan on halter breaking him and starting to work him in the round pin?

You are fighting about Manzer 😂😀😁 ! You are wise not to wish another pregnancy for Nika for all the reasons you describe. She is a mature mare, not that old but not too young now. I imagine how stessful it can be too. Like for a middle aged women, it's not to good for the health. For all mammals, physiologically it is best to have babies when the body is young. I suppose you are fully aware what keeping a stallion would be like when he'll want a mare and you would not want to isolate him from the rest of the herd as people do when they keep a stud for reproduction. I've known teasers used for testing mares before studs are taken to them. Since they never mated, they seemed ok. But I've also been with stallions who never mated either and they were quite a handful to handle with the others and geldings. I almost had an accident. So it might also depends on the character of the horse. In a wild herd they keep fighting for keeping their mares and reproduce.

You are such a nice family loving all your animals that I can't think of negative comments, unless they are trolls having nothing to do behind their screen. It is so common on internet that it's just worth deleting !

These drawings are amazing ! 😍

That's a good plan, let the horses tell you when it's weaning time. Do it on their schedule not when people think that foals should be weaned.

I think Nika's age is a big factor as to whether to breed her again. Usually nothing will happen, but if Nika would have serious problems it would be heartbreaking, even if ignoring the financial difficulties that may go along with it. Just my thoughts.
I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. I am grateful just to have come across this channel. Going through the ups and downs along with you guys has been a very educational, and very enjoyable, part of my life.

In the wild mares will ween the foals when their ready. I think that's the best thing for the mental health and the learning that he'll get from his mama. People don't realize how much manners that the mother will teach the foal during their time together. I think that's a great idea to leave him with her until spring. Just my opinion. I know a lot of people who would disagree, including some of my own family. But I think the longer a baby anything is with mom it learns much more on how to behave with others of it's kind as it is not only protected by mom but is disciplined by her. I think you guys are doing great with not just Manzer and Nika but with all of your horses that I have seen. You care for them all so well but still let them be horses it's great.

I admire you SO SO MUCH for not taking Manzer away from Nika to wean. My respect for you has jumped a mile for that decision. It breaks my heart to see a foal crying for his or her Mama. And like you said, her too! Anyway! I'm thankful for my Children, Grandchildren and my Great Grandson! But mostly for my Saviour Jesus Christ, for going to that awful cross for me! And you!

As for what I am thankful for obviously my family and friends but also my animals (my dog, my cats, and the horses I have the previledge of riding and caring for. Cause the horses aren't mine but they add to my life some serious joy!) They are my sanity and my insanity all wrapped into one! I wouldn't change a thing though! Thanks for another good video. As a non-horse owner, I cant speak to wheather you should risk breeding Nika again. However, she seemed very uncomfortable in the last month of her pregnancy and I would be worried for her safety. Manzer didn't seem to be in a hurry to get born. To geld or to not geld … separating a hormonal teenage from the herd would probably be hard on Manzer, but he sure would make wonderful babies.

You both are great. What you have plan for manzer? Will he be a working horse, or show horse or just pleasure. And if you plan to breed him would he pass on the same colour or be like his dad. Either way I love all horses and wished I had a herd of my own. My favorite breeds are Appaloosa, Arabian and Quarter horse.
