Claudiane Samson, in Whitehorse, reports for our new regional web page, ICI Grand Nord

This is Claudiane
Samson in the Yukon. I’ve been working as
a videojournalist here for nearly 20 years. Today I’m on the road
visiting the lands of the Kluane and Champagne
Aishihik First Nations. My job has obviously
changed a lot over the years. At the beginning,
it was mostly TV. Then, with the integration,
it was a mix of TV and radio. Next came the web
and social media. So for about a dozen years,
the Yukon had a “Zone Yukon” page that told the
territory’s stories. That page is now gone
and has been replaced by ICI Grand Nord. The new page covers the
wider northern community, and will include reports
from my one and only colleague north of
the 60th parallel, Mario De Ciccio,
based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. This page, too, will
likely change over time. It’s a big first step for
Radio-Canada in the North – this vast, stunning region
that’s a real pleasure and honour for me to cover.
