Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze – Cranky’s Secret DKC Music (Easter Egg)

DKC: Tropical Freeze is chock-full of cool
little details, and one of the cooler ones actually comes pretty early into the game. When you reach the end of level 1-3 Canopy
Chaos, skip past the goal barrel and use the spring hidden inside the crate to reach the
platform directly above. Now use either Cranky’s Cane Bounce or Dixie’s
Helicopter Spin from the middle platform to reach a hidden platform above and to the right. You’ll find yourself in a hidden area that
leads to the level’s secret exit–but that’s not the cool thing we’re talking about it. Did you spot the old record player on the
right? Well, that’s not just any record player, but it’s actually the one that Cranky Kong
plays at the very start of the original Donkey Kong Country. But it’s not just for looks, because you can
actually play yourself too–simply do a ground-pound to start it up and enjoy that awesome classic
track.

Nintendo has a way past cool (dare I say it) record of hiding amazing Easter Eggs in its games, don't you think?

i think it'd been cooler if cranky press a special button and starts cranking it it'd feel at home to the gamers of the past still pretty neat

I love it when developers give a nod to the older original games.
When the record started playing, I couldn't help but smile 🙂

There's another musical secret in the first level. If you go back into the plane and then perform a ground pound the TVs in there start playing some a small repeat of the DKC theme.

What I found most amazing in this is the release dates for both the original DKC and DKC tropical freeze.

    DKC: 1994
    DKC Tropical Freeze: 2014

The DKC series is now 20 years old! Happy anniversary to the reborn donkey kong franchise.

This is awesome. I am so happy that they put the classic opening to the first country in this game.
