Hiking with the Donkey | Camino del Norte from Zumaia to Deba-Day 6

Good morning on a day 6, it’s 7 am now and
we are still in tent. At the spot we found yesterday in the fields. So it’s a little forest here, was very calm
with no wind so it was very warm. And the ground is kind of uneven. But overall we didn’t sleep very well because
of the rain. The rain woked us up several times. So we kind of feel a bit down. Today we want to do 15 kms to the camping
site. And we really hope that it won’t be closed
as our last one. 15 kms doesn’t seem very much but with how
tired we are it will be the perfect distance. We want to be moving forward but don’t want
to be killing ourselves. So that’s our plan for today. Our tent is so wet right now that it weighs
a ton. And takes up so much space. This is our set up with the sleeping mat for
boiling up water. We found it more efficient this way. For today’s breakfast we have rice that is
made for salads but we like it as a main dish. Today’s weather is so much better than yesterday’s
promising a good sunny day. And the air is so fresh still, so good. There’s lots of vineyards all around here. This is where the grapes grow great obviously. And we see also the little wine factories
here. So for the wine lovers should be great for
the degustation or tasting the wine. That is a very weird and funny sign here. We haven’t seen that anywhere before. Maybe just somebody painted it cause it’s
not like official sign. We are scared by the look of these black clouds. If they will come our way we’ll be all soaked
up. Some people on the forum said that the first
7 days or a week is the most difficult going through the mountains. And if you can survive this the rest of the
way will be easy fo you. But for now we don’t feel like it’s challenging
part maybe because we are more trained after been living and hiking for one year in the
mountains. Little uphills and downhills, not a big deal. Maybe it will be different in the future so
we’ll see it then. After 40 minutes back on the trail. And it may not be the end still because there
are lots of clouds hanging around. But we hope to do at least some kms more today. We decided to go to the Deba today, that’s
a big plan. So now having a real quick snack and we’ll
get onthe way but the weather is not appealing today to walk but we’ll do it anyway. We must do it. We don’t know how much we are going to film
but we will try our best. We were just talking about how the people
are managing to walk long distances in the boots that are hard and heavy weight. That’s clear that they are waterproof and
better holding your leg and stuff. But we won’t be able to do so because and
it’s so heavy weight and our feet would be all wounded up. So maybe its us being demanding to our shoes
but we prefer the light trekking shoes or sports shoes. So we are interested of what do you guys think,
what’s your opinion? Leave us a comment. This beauty compensates it all, all the powers,
everything, the views and the places. These days we’ve met several people walking
with heavy backpacks that are looking like they’re doing a Camino but they are going
in reverse direction. So we are wondering if someone does it actually
this way, going backwards from Santiago to Irun or somewhere else. If you have some information about it let
us know. This rainy weather influences me very badly. I have a bad headache probably it’s because
of the pressure. Because I noticed that if the sky is lightning
up I feel better instantly and if it’s darkening again I feel worse. So I think it’s for sure because of the weather. Today the weather is extremely changeable. At one moment it’s raining heavily and you
put on the raincoat and the other moment the sun is coming out and you’re going uphill
and you’re hot and want to put everything off. It’s hard today. The Camino is going around the donkeys. So cute. He wants to come out of the gate. You’re so tasty. You’re a great couple, he loves you. Now we continue the Camino with the donkey. It will accompany us, will help us and will
protect us. We always wanted to try to hike with the donkey
and now our dream came true. The donkey wants to come with us, we don’t
force it. So sad. Today we don’t use the GPS navigator because
we have a lot of indicators. That’s been great all the way. We just took the Camino and just go with it
so it’s been very relaxing. The first days we were kind of confusing the
routes but from today on maybe we’ll go with the Camino only. That’s great, stress free. Little break. Today we did lots of uphills and downhills
probably the most out of all days we’ve been on Camino. But that’s been fine because it’s been great
views all around. And the road itself was very quiet like 50
percent pavement and 50 percent of dirt roads. But at least we didn’t walk on the car roads
and highways. So that’s just perfect. It was an interesting day with different routes,
weather and landscapes. We were walking through the forest, through
the fields and have been seeing the ocean almost all the time. So that’s been great. Even though we had little sunshine it was
a very bright day for us, lots of impressions, lots of positive emotions. It was the most rainy day so far. We had a chance to try out our raincoats so
it’s not bad. And for the most part it was drizzling rain
so it wasn’t raining heavily. So we’ve been fine. Now we are going to Deba village and then
we’ll decide what camping we’ll stay in. Because all the camping spots are far from
the city 3 kms back or forward. But we think of going forward because it’s
more logical. But we’ll see, we’ll show you around. So now we are on our way to camping that is
5 kms more for us to walk. And we had bad news because the pedestrian
bridge broke down or something happened. So we have to do the huge round around this
river on the car road and now we are heading to the tunnel. It’s looking weird right now. We don’t know if we can get there. But we’ll try to film everything. We are going this way, thanks God. So we are still going. That’s already very late, it’s getting dark. Thank you so much for watching! Great video I loved it you had a lot of rain though. What time of year was it and how long did it take you?
