The Orbison comparison is great… but the lick is clearly love will tear us apart by joy division.. and that's cool

What a gorgeous voice – and such a confident aesthetic. He's a fellow Torontonian so I am extra-proud!

Just saw him in Austin city limits festival, never heard anything like this before, it was pretty awesome. Oh and his voice is even better live!

In the bookstore I work at they played this song once and I scribbled down the lyrics because I knew I needed to look up who was able to pull off such a range of vocals in one song and I was not disappointed. Hopefully I get to see Orville Peck live sooner than later! This is a win for the yeehaw agenda.

I hear everyone with the Lynch / Orbison comments, but does not the "seeeeeee…. see the boys as they walk on by" remind anyone of the Brooks & Dunn "My Maria"? Great music here regardless.

Saw them in London at the Scala last night. Amazing show and a sold-out crowd. As good a performance as I have ever seen.

I thought this was a Depeche Mode cover. Seems to be Depeche Mode inspired though. I like it, and I generally hate country.

I was at dragcon and Orville was visiting Trixie and I walked right by him. I wanted to say hi really badly but I didn’t wanna bother him. :,((

This is fucking art. Like high art. Like "let's reinterpret classic American masculinity as it was depicted in early 20th century western culture" type art. A new cowboy. A new human who isn't bound by the past forms of gender expression. A modern cowboy who can be queer. Humans who can be what they want.

Whoever likened it to a Lana Del Ray song has it right. I just read about this being sort of hipster country but apart from the Duane Eddy-like guitar and a mention of Johnny Cash it is about as country as the Elephant and Castle. Maybe if I were able to play this dirge at double speed?

My 2 1/2 year old was diagnosed with autism in September. We’ve known longer than that though. He absolutely loves listening to Orville’s voice, you can see him melt into a calm when “turn to hate” or “big sky” plays. My kid has impeccable taste like his mama. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Orville is that you on the banjo at the end? Love this song. I've always had a thing for the ghostly 50's falsetto.
