PART 3 AFTER SEDATION & NUMBING HORSE TOOTH REMOVAL AND FLOAT

She’s gonna be a rock star (laughing)
Ok I’m gonn a keep her head on this. She might just lose the stand. okay . Windy I’m so sorry pumpkin.
it’ll be better after.
I kind of loosen it off it’s already very loose . It’s just attached by the gingiva a little bit so I’m just going to do what we call elevate the
gingiva. As you can see , I’m sliding up here underneath the gum line along side of this tooth
– it’s a normal attachment the periodontal ligament is pretty much
already broken down. That twitching there is from her her utorphenal which is a pain med and a sedative. and so the main attachments already gone. Hey April… Good Girl good girl (pats her neck a few times) Almost Win Does she want it higher? She can be higher if she wants to be higher. she does want to be ….. yes. good girl.. Yeah right. We’re getting closer. because then you have a risk
of breaking it (OH) and leaving behind part of the root. yeah I want the hole thing So we just let it do its own thing here And she’s been behaving REALLY good she super good it is a patience thing so it’s just fairly attached. it would be much more painful for
her if i were to just were ta try ta just grab it out. oh yeah and yank it out it would be better definitely if we
just take our time with our elevation and the bleeding around the tooth
actually serves the purpose. that helps get it loose as well i thought you were gonna blow (laughing) I REALLY thought you were gonna blow (laughing) hang in there Wind almost there Windy you just wanna get away from me don’t cha (laughing) It’s alright big girl. I can get it a little more loose . It’s almost there sweetheart i think we’ll back this up a little.
There ya go so it moved a little bit otherwise wasn’t painful so while you so while you were gone I was just elevating it and
it’s bottom attachment here (POP) (Wow) and that’s alll that we get! so that so you can see all
of this ( yeah) was underneath the skin (Wow thats crazy) but you can see she really only had a
little bit of attachment all the way up here ( right) this wasn’t even attached so
I just kind of loosen it out. Yeah its really clean (yeah). Um and you can see where the
tissue is attached but that was it so she’ll feel a lot better with that out. (Horse whinnies loudly in background) There ya go Wind.. Aww thank you so much .
You’re welcome We’ll get her on some pain meds.
awesome job as usual
Thank you
you very very good She doesn’t want to get it back
(Laughing) no she doesn’t Wipe her face up here her beautiful white hair
yeah
let me get you a different towel this yeah I’m starting to match her (laughing) all my white coming in. well the grays were
always my favorite I might as well… look like them. Good girl Windy aww sweet baby you were so good. Such a sweet very little baby. I call you baby but you’re 23 or 24 years old. You’re an old woman but, so am i nothing wrong with that.
She looks good for her age. yeah…yeah not bad except for the
really bad arthritis but and your teeeth they match mine (laughing) your a good girl okay go ahead if you want to tell them what you’re doing so I’m just going to give her a shot of Banamine which will help with
discomfort from her tooth extraction here Thats all she needed. awesome. so she has pain meds
Um hmm
so she’s gonna be….
and her mouth heals very fast. there is one thing I want to show you we noticed a lump right
here. yeah right here the lump on this side I showed it to Ashley.
the first time i’ve seen that one what on earth is that? it’s likely if I had to guess
a melanoma thats what she was saying Umm hmm cuz grey horses get melanoma
very easily, um, it’s part of their coat color and related with that so I’d have
you monitor it for right now in that location I’m not going to get very
aggressive about removing it because it’s not in the skin it’s on deeper
structures under there okay. Can that develop into a cancer. um well it is a form of cancer but with grey horses they can almost every grey horse
has them okay some are never bothered by them some are bothered by them due to
their location and if they grow too big okay and that won’t like close off her
throat?? If it gets really big it could we can remove it? it yeah well it depends on what it’s all
attached to okay but you know with her being an older mayor and if it’s just
coming up now you know let’s keep an eye on it for right now okay because in this
location thats gonna be beyond my scope out here in the field because there is Huge vessels so
we have to go to the hospital yeah yeah yeah probably to a referral
facility okay there’s lots of very important nerves and blood vessels here
that I don’t want to be digging next to right right so okay so we’ll just keep an eye
on it for now very good. Okay Good Girl Ms Win. yes now we have to go move on to
classy yes. while you take your little nappy just want to say thanks to
everyone who donated she’s all done they did a great job
thanks again we really appreciate it we’ll check in with you soon bye

FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY: LET ME BE REALLY CLEAR: THIS IS THE 3RD VIDEO IN A SERIES WITH HER FLOAT AND REMOVAL FROM START TO FINISH. THE FIRST VIDEO SHOWS SHE GOT A COUPLE DOSES OF A NERVE BLOCKER: LIDOCAIN/NOVOCAIN TO NUMB HER. SHE ALSO GOT A SEDATION/RELAXATION INJECT AS WELL. NO ONE DID ANY REMOVALS WITHOUT FIRST NUMBING. PLEASE SEE THE FIRST VIDEO WHERE SHE GETS THIS. Windy needed this surgery so badly and I am so thankful to Dr Stephanie and Ashley for doing such a GREAT job with her. Windy also did super good…as she usually does. She's a very good old mare! 🙂

Is there anything special you have to do after it's pulled? Like how if we had a tooth pulled we have to do certain things to keep that area clean etc

I think the other horses were worried about what you were doing to her.  It's amazing that she even allowed you guys to do that.

God I don't think I kept that still when I had my wisdoms removed. She's only pulling away a little bit cause it probably feels strange, what you don't understand about numbing medicine is it numbs the pain but you can still feel what's happening which is really strange lol. Well behaved horse xxx

I never actually saw the horse in this video but Gary Busey was very well behaved for having his teeth pulled.
