[S2 – Eps. 30] Horse riding in wild Patagonia, Argentina

Good morning internet! It is 08:45 in the morning and welcome back to the channel I woke up this morning from some strange sounds First I thought, I kind of half woke up, and I thought, there is somebody walking around the tent and I was like what is this noise and I heard this crunching sound and I thought, is there somebody walking around my tent, eating crisps? Finally I realised, they were the horses! Look! See this one is sweet! Anyway, I already had a shower with basically, view on the horses it’s a lovely day so yeah, today I’m gonna go horse riding, I’m really excited Really looking forward to it So last night, I also had an amazing dinner here They cooked a proper steak The owners are actually not Argentinean people but they are French and man, they have an interesting story, both actually He is actually quite a famous person His name is Marc-Antoine, I think he’s quite famous in France, he also brought out a book about his life in Patagonia He came here 15 years ago, he bought this place But that wasn’t really the plan He was actually planning to ride horses from Patagonia to Alaska! Very similar to what I am doing but then he started with two horses, ended up with twelve and, he didn’t, in that sense he didn’t come very far because when he reached this place, he loved it so much that he decided to buy this farm which was for sale at the time And then he expanded it and now he has sheep and horses and well, you can stay here Oh and I forgot to say that he is a he used to be a tax lawyer in France, so he left everything behind and quit his job as a tax lawyer, came to Patagonia to pursue his dream with horses so I think that’s really amazing and she was working in art, in Paris and now here on this farm so they have such an interesting story and such a beautiful, beautiful place I’m pretty impressed, I have to say Good morning! Good morning, how are you? Good, and you? I’m fine Hello puppers! So much morning love! Ok, now is enough Was the shower nice? Oh, it was perfect! It was very nice! Nice place to shower So it’s now already after lunch time we decided to wait in the morning because it was raining Now it’s dry Still a bit cloudy and very windy but we’re gonna go horse riding anyway I don’t know on which horse I’m going to ride we’ll find out soon enough It’s the wild Wild West Are those all scars from fighting with the other horses? Yeah … the females He defends his.. you know, you will not So they fight against him But why do you want to take him out for a ride? So he also stays He has to be ridden The refresher course. So to get on the horse.. Just tight the reigns More the left one, because if the horse moves, it’s better that it moves turning around you then going that way otherwise you will go.. fall off, yeah After So you get the hair, it doesn’t hurt him Like this A little jump and Don’t jump too much Otherwise you will fall on the other side It already happened Nice jump Thank you! So what about your.. Too long, too short? Right is too short Yeah? They were the same size No! Really? Yes, for me yes Maybe my one leg is shorter than the other Longer Gala, come here! She is on the wrong side of the fence Wow, I just did some galloping down here and look at this amazing view it is so stunning around here and that’s the thing.. all this land is part of the Estancia so it’s just like riding in your own Patagonian back yard and everywhere around us you can see the rain fronts coming but we are pretty lucky, there was only a little bit of water, although Marc-Antoine probably would have loved more rain because it’s been really dry he said and a lot of the young lambs are dying because it’s just too dry and there is not enough water to grow some good grass for the animals So he really likes some rain but it seems like most of the rain is passing this estancia But it was so cool, I was just riding a little bit by myself and then the dogs went with me and Marc-Antoine borrowed me his gaucho hat I don’t know for a couple of minutes I really felt like I’m a gaucho, and amazing feeling! Go! You can do it! Very, very dangerous Here, two people dead What?! Marc-Antoine and his stupid jokes! Never! Yeah but really, one time one fall down The horse or the person? Person That horse didn’t move at all So it was not the horse’s fault Smooth I just keep on going straight? Yeah! Turn to the right! This way? My horse is on a mission He wants to go home now They know the food is coming now The reward! Where is the food? Be careful, because food is tricky. Something that they like and they will fight for that So, I’m back at the estancia what a day! I really loved it It was, it was a really old dream of mine that came true today and that was riding a horse in Patagonia and it was fabulous, it was absolutely fantastic I didn’t miss riding a motorcycle today at all It was just great Like, compared to my trip with Basanti, now I’m taking my time a lot more I have more time because of how I kind of thought about this trip, taking into consideration the seasons and.. riding in the summer time, that kind of stuff So I have time to do things like these and I don’t know, my trip from India to Europe was, a little bit rushed maybe in some points and this time I thought I’m really going to enjoy this trip and do things like these and not move for a day but yeah, have a really nice excursion and do horse riding or visit more things along the way, so that’s kind of my approach for this trip, so it won’t be all the time riding a motorcycle. I hope you still enjoyed this video too, even though there was no motorcycling today and if you did, please give me a big thumbs up, and subscribe down below and then I’ll see you in the next video!

This is my favorite video of yours. What a beautiful place, and what a seemingly beautiful life that couple have carved out for themselves. I think I would rather stay in one of those tents in any room you stayed in on your trips. When you said you realized a dream of riding a horse in Patagonia, it brought tears to my eyes. What an adventurous spirit you have!

Hacking about (in Dutch: rossen in de bossen), canter and banter. 8:40 – now that is proper off-road. 12 minutes and a second of smile on my face.

Motorcycles are called steel horses and sometimes it's fun to ride a living horse.
Two years ago i went horseriding in the mountains of the Algarve, also recomended if you find rourself over there.

It's years since I went horse riding in Australia with my daughter, which is a nice memory, but at least my motorbike doesn't have a mind of its own and I don't feel like I'm going to be thrown off on rocks at any moment!

A lovely video; it's like a dream existence for that couple and to be able to be a small part of it just for a day or so must have been really exhilarating and life affirming. Ride safe. Of course, most things must be better than being a tax lawyer!

Some of the terrain looked a bit dicey. The owner must hav had confidence in your riding ability. my father would not allow horses on our big farm because he said they destroyed the land. Typical farmer!

I am Argentinean and I ask you: did you not have another placeholder who was not a foreigner like this Frenchman to ride you for a stay? How is it possible that you have only located a European to make this ride in an Argentine stay? It's very weird it seems to me

You are amazing!! Extreme offloading on horseback!! That just looked like so much fun. The dogs and horses were so comfortable together. What you said about not just riding the motorbike the whole time but doing other things… that is what makes this trip so fascinating. I am waiting for more archeology which is one of my interests. I have ordered my Himalayan this week so I am looking forward to going on some UK green lanes soon. Looking forward to your next video. Be safe and stay warm!!

That was wondrous. I rode in my youth with my uncle on the western slopes of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He owned six horses. War Paint, a tall Appaloosa, was mine to ride. One of the most memorable experiences of my life. You brought me back in time. Taking time to experience your life is wise beyond your years. I remember the cooperation between myself and War Paint and how we rode together. Very different from my motorcycle. As much as we โ€œloveโ€ and โ€œpersonifyโ€ our machines they are just that. Horses are beings and this changes everything. Thank you for stimulating my travel back in time. As I type I can almost smell the leather of the saddle and War Paint.

Very nice episode but were was the crashhelmet? Among those sharp stones even. But Iยดm rather afraid on horseback even on grassโ€ฆ Not on my motorbike. Mashines are more dependible than animals.

I have ridden horses a few times in my life and wished I had more opportunity to do it. Honestly I think that this is the only thing that can top exploring on a motorcycle, doing it on horseback. If you were to reduce the amount of motorcycling in your videos I donโ€™t think anyone would notice and I think it can only improve the channel if you are producing content like this to replace it.
